The Divine Service
The Divine Service is celebrated every Sunday at 10 a.m. and on announced Feast days in the Church Year. See Lutheran Service Book pp. 151.
Daily Prayer
- Matins (the Church's morning prayer) is prayed every day Monday through Friday at 9 a.m. in the church proper. See Lutheran Service Book pp. 219.
- Vespers (the Church’s evening prayer) is prayed every Wednesday at 7 p.m. in the church proper. See Lutheran Service Book pp. 229.
Private Absolution
Pastor Wegener is available for private absolution (as taught in Luther’s Small Catechism) by appointment. All confessions are kept in strictest confidence. See Lutheran Service Book pp. 292-293.
Bible Study
- Sunday Bible Class- Bible class for college-aged and older is held every Sunday at 9 a.m. from August to May.
- College Student Bible Study- An in-depth study for college students meets every Wednesday at 8 p.m.
- Original Language Study- A study in the Hebrew Old Testament, Greek New Testament, and German/Latin Lutheran Confessions meets every Tuesday (except the 2nd Tuesday of the month) from 10 a.m. to noon.
- Parish Catechesis- Introductory and ongoing instruction in the Christian faith meets every Wednesday at 6 p.m.
- Apologetics Class- A class to help you defend the Christian faith meets once a month at Faith Lutheran in Waterloo with Rev. Ed Killian.
Serving in Church
College students are welcome to serve in the church in various ways. Just to name a few, students may serve as greeters, Sunday school teachers, choir singers, instrumentalists, artists, church cleaners, van drivers, altar guild and more. Feel free to email us with questions: prwegener@cfu.net
Choir and Church Music
Singers and instrumentalists are welcome to share their talents in the Divine Service. If you are interested in joining the choir or playing an instrument in the Divine Service, please speak with Pr. Wegener or Choir Director Nick Bushkofsky. Contact Nick at bushkofn@uni.edu
The Brammer Student Center (BSC)
Brammer Student Center (BSC) provides ample space and private rooms for study including an office with computer, printer, copy machine, and free
Wi-Fi. Right next to it is the laundry room with a full-size washer and dryer. The center room in the lower level of the BSC is our library which has a respectable collection of Christian literature and multi-media. The BSC is open to students from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. every day.

Lutheran Student Fellowship (LSF)
LSF is the student-led organization of College Hill Lutheran Church and is a recognized student organization of UNI and the LCMS. LSF coordinates many of the social programs for the college students who attend College Hill. No membership fees or obligations, simply come and join in the fun anytime.
Student Adoption Program
Members of the congregation are happy to “adopt” college students while they attend college away from their homes. A sign-up sheet will be available at the beginning of the academic year.
Community Chest
The College Hill Community Chest is intended to help defray the costs of everyday living for college students while they are away from home. Ask Pastor about it or contact peer leader Rebekah Cooper at rlcooper@uni.edu.
Game Room
College Hill Lutheran Church has a large game room which includes two pool tables, two foosball tables, table tennis, dart board, air hockey table, chess/checkerboard table, many board games, and the like. The game room is open from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. every day.
Caretakers
College Hill is able to have up to four college students live in the BSC apartment in exchange for maintaining the property. Applications for this position are available upon request and are due in February of each year.
Social Activities for College Students
College Hill offers many social activities for college students.
- Halfy Hour- Enjoy beverages and snacks, music, and socializing after Vespers and before Bible study Wednesdays at 7:30 p.m. in the BSC.
- Table Talk- Meet fellow students and pastor in Maucker Union for lunch every Thursday from noon to 1 p.m. The food will be provided!
- Servant Events- Several opportunities for service are provided during the school year and will be announced.
- Social Events- Some of the events include mini-golf, volleyball league, square dancing, costume party, Christmas party, kickball game, just to name a few. Stay informed on upcoming events throughout the year by joining our listserv email list or checking us out on Facebook.
