Food Bank Need is Strong-How Can We Help?? It is customary for
members of College Hill Lutheran Church to provide a strong support
financially for the Food Bank. Our drive, usually held in March and
April, was very weakly supported this year. At the Board of Directors
meeting it was decided to repeat the appeal to the congregation for
donations for the Food Bank in the month of June. We are targeting
June 14 but any gift this month will be included in the donation sent to
the Food Bank on our behalf. It is important to remember that a single
dollar donation results in the purchase funds of thirteen dollars for the
Food Bank. Just think that's a return of $13 for each $1 donated.
Please check your June budget and make a contribution to this
worthy cause. Simply include the gift in your regular envelope, making
certain to note it's destination on the outside of your envelope.

Building Healthy Families: Never underestimate the influence of a
dad. Think about how you relate to your own father. Now think about
how you relate to your Father, God. Many people perceive God in
much the same way that they experienced their earthly father, as a
comforting, protective, welcoming figure or as a judging, distant or
absent figure. Dad, the role you play in your child's life today shapes
not only their earthly life but also their faith life to eternity. Thanks for all
that you do with your child, which accurately reflects their Father,
God to them. Happy Father's Day! Lutheran Family Service of Iowa

Stewardship Thought: 2 Corinthians 6:1-13: Only the Holy Spirit could
renew the Corinthian Christians to be useful stewards in the kingdom
of God. This same Holy Spirit renews us to be faithful stewards of that
which God has entrusted to us--including the wise stewardship of the
Gospel of Jesus and doing all we can to get that good news out to a
fallen world.

Outreach Idea: Mark 4:35-44: We have the great blessings of
forgiveness of sins, life and salvation because we believe in Jesus, the
One who continues to still the wind and the waves of life. Speaking
about our faith and hope in Jesus provides the Holy Spirit the
opportunity to work saving faith in the hearts of those who do not yet
believe. As Ablaze! Christians let's be more intentional about our
witnessing!

June 21 (Father's Day) "Dads don't realize they are heroes because
this concept has either never been passed on to them by their own
father, or they have ignored or forgotten God's Word that mightily
reminds them of their powerful role. Either way, they are left illequipped
to battle the culture that beats up on them and tries to
destroy their confidence. There is a Man, however, who forgives and
then faithfully encourages every human father to try-over and over
again, to be the man God designed him to be. That Man is Jesus
Christ." Linda D. Bartlett, former president of Lutherans For Life This "Life
Quote" is from Lutherans For Life - www.lutheransforlife.org.
