Stewardship Thought 2 Corinthians 8:1-9; 13-15: By the grace of God
the Macedonian Christians were generous with their giving of money
even though they were considered very poor in comparison with
others. They joyfully gave beyond their means. Wouldn't it be great if
people were to say the same thing about us!
Building Healthy Families: Reflecting on the signing of the Declaration
of Independence, John Adams wrote to his wife, Abigail: "This event
will be the most memorable epoch in the history of America. It ought
to be commemorated as the day of deliverance, by solemn acts of
devotion to God Almighty. It ought to be solemnized with pomp and
parade, with shows, games, sports, guns, bells, bonfires, and
illuminations, from one end of this continent to the other, from this time
forward forever more." As you and your family celebrate the 4th of
July this year, include "solemn acts of devotion to God Almighty" and
thank Him for His many blessings! Lutheran Family Service of Iowa 800-

Outreach Idea: Mark 5:21-43: Jairus believed that Jesus could keep
his 12-year-old daughter from dying by simply touching her so she
could be healed and live. On the way to the home of Jairus, servants
told Jairus that his daughter had died. Jesus told Jairus not to be
afraid, just believe. Then Jesus demonstrated His power over death
by simply telling the girl to get up. What a privilege we have of telling
others about the powerful and life-giving name of Jesus!
"When our souls are filled with guilt, He offers us forgiveness. When life
draws to a close, He assures us of a heavenly home. When humans
fail us, He promises never to fail or forsake us. When we have made
mistakes, He tells us it's never too late to start over. When life is boring,
He gives us new challenges. Many crosses can be added to our life's
journey, but Jesus has promised, ‘Cast all your cares on me, for I care
for you' (1 Peter 5:7)." Rev. Homer Larson, speaker on the Christian
Crusaders radio program This "Life Quote" is from Lutherans For Life -
