Building Healthy Families: What can your child learn from watching TV?
Best-selling author and psychologist Mary Pipher reminds us that all
television is educational: it teaches both values and behavior. With much
of the marketing of products directed intentionally toward children, the
messages they receive are: I am the most important person in the world;
impulses should not be denied; pain or discomfort should not be
tolerated; and the cure for any kind of pain is a product of some kind.
They (and we) learn to be self-centered, impulsive and addicted. This
summer, turn off the TV and join your children in games, books, walks, bike
rides, and exploring God's world! Lutheran Family Service of Iowa 800-

Food Bank Need is Strong-How Can We Help?? It is customary for
members of College Hill Lutheran Church to provide a strong support
financially for the Food Bank. Our drive, usually held in March and April,
was very weakly supported this year. At the Board of Directors meeting it
was decided to repeat the appeal to the congregation for donations for
the Food Bank in the month of June. We are targeting June 14 but any
gift that month will be included in the donation sent to the Food Bank on
our behalf. It is important to remember that a single dollar donation
results in the purchase funds of thirteen dollars for the Food Bank. Just
think that's a return of $13 for each $1 donated. Please check your June
budget and make a contribution to this worthy cause. Simply include the
gift in your regular envelope, making certain to note it's destination on
the outside of your envelope.

Stewardship Thought: Acts 2:22-36: Peter proclaimed boldly that the
