We are looking for Christmas cards that have the manger scene on
them. This could be any depiction of the manger with or with out the
whole family. If you have cards that you received and no longer wish to

in the gathering area.
Outreach Idea Mark 1:4-11: John the Baptist, as important as he and his
work were, resisted the temptation to make a name for himself, but rather
pointed to the One who was greater than he. Faithful witnesses do not
seek glory for themselves but rather point to Jesus, the true and onlybegotten
Son of God and Savior of the world.
Today's Sunday School: The Baptism and temptation of Jesus served as
the lesson focus for Sunday School this week. Jesus is baptized into and
takes on our sin, and faces our temptations so we, in Baptism, would
receive His goodness, His holiness, and His purity. Parents could ask, "Why
is it important that Jesus was baptized? Why is it important that we are
baptized?"
Building Healthy Families: Are you a "cool" parent? You aren't if you
have heard something like this from your teen: "But my friend's parents let
her stay out past midnight; why can't you be cool like them?" The goal of
parenting is not to be "cool". The goal isn't even for your kids to like you
all the time. It is to teach responsibility, character and faithfulness to living
as God's children. Don't give up your role as parent just to be "cool"! It
will pay off in the long run. Lutheran Family Service of Iowa -800-622-7285
Stewardship Thought: Romans 6:1-11: Stewards live in a special fellowship
with God because of the death and resurrection of Jesus. This new life by
God's grace involves using all that are and have to honor God and bless
others.
"Life Quote" "We lose more babies through abortion every year than the
total fatalities in all of the wars in which we have ever participated,
commencing with the French and Indian War and including the
Revolutionary War, the War of 1812, the Civil War, the Spanish-American
War, World War I, World War II, Korea, Vietnam, Gulf War I, and Gulf War
II. What's wrong with religious people who are not making this their
paramount issue?" Dr. Richard Land, president of The Ethics & Religious
Liberty Commission This "Life Quote" is from Lutherans For Life -
