you can deliver it to them this week.
The church office will be closed this Thursday and Friday in observance
of Thanksgiving.
Today in Sunday School: Today's lesson involved the well-known story
of David and Goliath. As David slew the giant Goliath, so Jesus, our
David, slew the jeering giants of sin, Satan, and death with the
weapon of His own death. Discuss, "How could David approach his
battle with Goliath confidently? How can we face the ‘Goliaths' in
our life with confidence?"
Give Thanks in Worship. Our Thanksgiving Eve worship will be held
Wednesday, November 26 at 7:00 p.m. It is right to give thanks to the
Lord for the gifts He gives. We give thanks and also receive His
blessings through the Word.

the sacristy by Wednesday, November 26. The gifts may be put in the

Building Healthy Families: Thanksgiving is all about thanking God for
our blessings! Evidence the Congressional Proclamation establishing
Thanksgiving, November 1, 1782: "It being the indispensable duty of
all Nations, not only to offer up their supplications to ALMGIHTY GOD,
the giver of all good, for his gracious assistance in a time of distress,
but also in a solemn and public manner to give him praise for his
goodness in general...The United States in Congress assembles, taking
into their consideration the many instances of divine goodness to
these states, do hereby recommend to the inhabitants of these States
in general, to observe and request the several states to interpose their
authority in appointing and commanding the observation of
THURSDAY the twenty-eight day of NOVEMBER next, as a day of
solemn THANKSGIVING to GOD for all his mercies, and they do further
recommend to all ranks, to testify to their gratitude to GOD for his
goodness, by a cheerful obedience of his laws, and by promoting,
each in his station, and by his influence, the practice of true and
undefiled religion, which is the great foundation of public prosperity
and national happiness." God bless our country! Lutheran Family
Service of Iowa 800-622-7285.
Stewardship Thought: 1 Corinthians 15:20-28: Jesus was raised from
the dead as the firstfruits of all who have died or will die. Because we
have a living hope that reaches beyond the grave we can use our
time, talent, treasure and all of life and life's resources to make life for
ourselves and others on this side of heaven as good as possible. Our
hope is in heavenly things; our work is with earthly things.
