The Lutheran Hour message for next Sunday is "Abiding Words" Guest Speaker: Rev. David Schmidt (John 8:31-36) We welcome into fellowship this morning the following new members: In Sunday School today: Gideon's amazing victory over the enemies of God's people recorded in Judges 6-7 was the subject of today's Sunday School lesson. Christ, the light of the world, overcomes the darkness of sin, death, and the devil, even as God overcame Israel's enemy while the light streamed from the lamps of Gideon's men. Discuss with your children, "What do you think was the most amazing part of Gideon's victory? Why is it important that Jesus won the victory over sin and death?" Marty Party: Immanuel Lutheran Church Fellowship Committee invites you to attend an evening of fun for the whole family. The Marty Party will be held Sunday, November 2 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Enjoy a German style dinner (free will offering). Games and fun for the whole family. Learn more about the life of Martin Luther. Sign-up sheet is on the table in the gathering area. Deadline to sign-up is today. Reformation Festival 3:00 p.m. Divine Service with Holy Communion 4:25 p.m. About Reformation: What Does It Mean? 5:00 p.m. German Dinner Tickets: Adult $15 (incl. Fundraiser for flood relief) Dinner proceeds will go to St. John Lutheran Church in Waverly LSF News: Campus Ministry Volleyball: This week's game starts at 6:30 p.m. at St. Stephen the Witness Catholic Student Center. Wednesday join us for Vespers at 7:00 p.m., choir at 7:30 p.m. and LSF Bible Study at 8:00 p.m. The Bible Study will meet in the Brammer Center located on the lower level. Students meet Pastor Wegener at Maucker Union near Essentials at noon on Thursdays for Table Talk. Pastor will bring the food. Are you a young woman and interested in learning about the Women of the Bible? Would you like a time to get together with other young women and discuss the Bible and life? Tonight a young adult women's Bible Study will be starting at 7:30 p.m. at College Hill Lutheran. It will be a time to have Bible Study and provide a safe time to discuss those things we go through as young women. Details of the event are found on the bulletin board in the Brammer Center. Next Sunday, October 26, be prepared to get a little messy as we clean out some pumpkins and come up with some creative carvings at 5 p.m. We'll enjoy some pizza and drinks before getting our hands dirty. All students are welcome to come and bring friends. On Wednesday, Oct. 29 beginning at 8 p.m. we will have a Reformation costume party in the Brammer Student Center with fun games and food. Best costume will win a prize. Come dressed in whatever costume you desire, although costumes relating to stories from the Bible and church history would be particularly enjoyable. Pictures of Luther and other notable Lutherans from the Reformation Era may aid in your attire, ask Pr. Wegener for ideas and he'll be glad to help.
