Be sure to pick up yours, as well as one of someone who isn't here this morning so that you can deliver it to them this week. http://www.college-hill.org/upload/newsletters/OctoberCrier2008.pdf Birthday Celebration: The congregation is invited to join the Wegener family after church next Sunday, October 5, to celebrate Pastor Tom Wegener's 70th birthday. A light lunch will be served. A large card will be available for all to sign. Hope to see all of you there. You are invited to an open forum to discuss and ask questions about the Iowa District East Restructuring Proposal. The informational forum for the Westgate and Waterloo Circuits will be held at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Waterloo, IA on October 5 at 2:00 p.m. Mr. Marv Muhlenbruck and Pastor Gerald Kapanka, members of the restructuring committee, will present an overview of the recommendations and be available to answer questions. A copy of the proposal can be obtained from the CHLC office this week. Today's Sunday School lesson: At the Jordan River, led by Joshua, Israel leaves the desert in this week's Sunday School lesson "Entering the Promised Land." In Baptism, led by Christ, we leave behind the desert of sin, death, and Satan so we may enter into the promised land of heaven. Parents might ask, "What did the Israelites create to remind them of their crossing into the Promised Land? What do you have to remind you of your Baptism?" Immanuel Lutheran Church, Waterloo, IA will hold its annual Bazaar and Roast Beef Dinner on Saturday, October 4. The bazaar is from 8:00 a.m. to 12 noon. The dinner will be served from 4:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. LSF News: Campus Ministry Volleyball: This week's game starts at 6:00 p.m. at St. Stephen the Witness Catholic Student Center located next to University Book and Supply. No prior volleyball experience is necessary. This league is more about fun and fellowship. If you are interested in playing, or even just cheering the team on, come on over to St. Stephen's. If you can't play every week, that is fine. Join us when you are able. Wednesday join us for Evening Prayer at 7:00 p.m., choir at 7:30 p.m. and LSF Bible Study at 8:00 p.m. The Bible Study will meet in the Brammer Center located on the lower level. Students meet Pastor Wegener at Maucker Union near Essentials at noon on Thursdays for Table Talk. Pastor will bring the food. Watch your e-mail for a link to the October Newsletter. Details of the event are found in the October Newsletter. What would you think if we started a women's Bible Study at College Hill, aimed at the young adult age. We would go through different topics and books in the Bible and also use it as a time to support each other and what we go through as females.
