The stockings are done and now it is time to fill them. Do you have leftover Halloween candy that is looking for a home? The stockings will be filled with an assortment of candy and small gift items and then sent to Metro Ministries in New York where they will be distributed in time for Christmas to needy boys and girls. If you would like to shop for stocking stuffers, you can find a list of suggested items on the bulletin board in the fellowship hall. There is a box under the table to place items in. Please have them here by this Wednesday, November 7. If you have questions, please contact Becky McBurney, 276-3100.

Food and Fellowship Galore...at the annual CHLC Thanksgiving potluck next Sunday. Join us after worship for turkey and all the trimmings. Turkey, dressing, potatoes and drinks will be provided. Congregation families are asked to bring two dishes to share. Single members are asked to bring one. The college students will be our guests.

Building Healthy Families: Veterans Day is next Sunday, and it presents a great time to educate your children about the history of this holiday and the sacrifice and dedication of our U.S. veterans. This week, help your child make a thank you note and deliver it to a veteran in your community. Make a second one and send it to someone you know who is currently deployed, or visit www.americasupportsyou.mil to download a thank you cartoon to color and mail, or to send a thank you to a soldier by email. Lutheran Family Service of Iowa 1-800-622-7285

Outreach Idea: Our Epistle reading reminds us that because of the lavish love of God we are called "children of God!" There is no greater title on earth than to be called "children of God." We are at our best as "children of God" when we live out our Christian lives and tell others about the lavish love of God for all people!

Stewardship Thought: This beautiful Epistle reading for All Saints' Day reminds us that God has lavished such love on us so that we are now His children. As God's stewards we live out our stewardship in a way that gives evidence of our "family resemblance" as God's children.

Sunday School News: In Sunday School today, the children learned the account of the Passover, Exodus 11-12. This true story, about the night when the angel of death passed over the homes of God's people who had painted their doors with the blood of a lamb, foreshadows Christ, God's Son, who became the Lamb whose blood was shed for us. Jesus is our Passover Lamb, and thus we will never die-we have the gift of eternal life. Ask your children who gives us the faith to believe that Jesus is our Savior?

The Lutheran Hour is broadcast weekly and may be heard on Sundays on WGN, Chicago 720AM at 6:00 a.m.; WMT, Cedar Rapids 600AM at 6:30 a.m.; KXEL, Waterloo 1540AM at 7:00 a.m.; KCHA, Charles City 1580AM at 7:30 a.m.; and KWAY, Waverly 1470AM at 8:00 a.m. This next week's sermon is "Shaken to the Core" Speaker: Rev. Dr. Ken Klaus Is the world coming to an end? One thing is obvious: times are getting frightening. (2 Thessalonians 2:1-2)
