Ladies, there will be no Evening Guild in October.

Block party this Saturday October 6 at 5:00 p.m. (note time change.) Come and get to know our neighbors, the students and fellow members. We will have some outdoor games and if it raining, we will move inside and play games there. If that is not your style, just talk and get to know someone else. We will supply the hamburgers, hot dogs, and drinks. Congregation members are asked to bring a salad or a dessert.

October Newsletters are available for you to pick up today. They can be found on the table in the gathering area. Be sure to pick up yours, as well as one of someone who isn't here this morning so that you can deliver it to them this week.

October 14 is the date for the Homecoming Potluck. Drinks and table service will be provided by the Adult Bible Class members, hosts for the meal. College Hill family members are asked to bring two dishes to share. Single members are asked to bring one dish.

Outreach Idea: In our Epistle reading for today St. Paul encouraged Timothy to fight the good fight of the faith and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, endurance and gentleness. Christians who pursue such spiritual goals are people who also give a good witness to what it means to be a Christian. Good witnessing means sharing the reason for the hope, peace and contentment we enjoy as the children of God.

Sunday School News: Today in Sunday School, the children learned how God used Joseph to feed Egypt during a great famine (Genesis 40-41). God sent His Son, Jesus, to save all humanity from sin, death, and the devil. Talk to your children about how our sins cause suffering for both ourselves and others. Talk about times when sin overwhelms us and we cannot escape it. In His love, God takes care of our needs, physical and spiritual. On the cross, Jesus bore God's anger for our sins and endured the suffering that we deserve. Discuss the reality that in spite of how awful life seems, Jesus is with us through His Word and Sacraments, caring for us always. The first article of the Apostles' Creed and its explanation is a helpful catechism connection.

Campus Ministry Volleyball: This week's game starts at 7:00 p.m. at St. Stephen the Witness Catholic Student Center located next to University Book and Supply. No prior volleyball experience is necessary. This league is more about fun and fellowship. If you are interested in playing, or even just cheering the team on, come on over to St. Stephen's. If you can't play every week, that is fine. Join us when you are able.

LSF Bible Study and Social Hour each Wednesday at 8:30 p.m. in the Brammer Center located on the lower level. Please note time change.

Choir rehearsal. If you are at all interested, please come on Wednesday evenings. Practice will begin approximately 9:15 p.m. and will last until 9:45 p.m.

Students meet Pastor Wegener at Maucker Union near Essentials at noon on Thursdays for Table Talk.

Fall Servant Event: Next Sunday, October 7, we will drive down to Camp IO-DIS-E-CA to help with their Fall Festival. We will leave from the College Hill Lutheran Church parking lot at 11:30 a.m. and plan to return around 7:30 p.m.
